Ukraine announces plans to develop cross-border communication with the EU.
Ukraine seeks to expand the existing checkpoints and access roads as well as add additional lanes to the roads approaching the checkpoints and waiting areas in the border zone.
“The country will coordinate its plans with the relevant bodies of neighboring states,” said Deputy Minister of Finance Oleksandr Kava during an external meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration in Lviv.
He added, “We hope that the crossing points between Ukraine and the EU will disappear in the future. Therefore, ensuring new points of connection between neighboring states and the development of small cross-border traffic is already urgent today. Unfortunately, some western regions of our country have only one checkpoint, which is insufficient. Therefore, opening more border crossings is a priority for us”.
