Ukraine announces its expectations for international financial assistance for this year.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukraine has attracted more than $85B in external financing, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

“Over ₴1T was attracted to the budget thanks to military and other bonds. This has enabled the government to fully finance key budget expenditures,” he added.

The Prime Minister said that in 2024, Ukraine has already received $880M from the IMF and expects to receive another $4.5B in budget support. Also, within the framework of the Ukraine Facility’s implementation, the EU is planning to provide €16B this year. In addition, work is ongoing with Washington to receive about $8B in budget support.

“But it is necessary to understand that we can direct the funds from our partners only to non-military purposes. That is, the government finances the defense campaign thanks to taxpayers’ funds and military bonds. Since the beginning of the year, we have already allocated more than ₴500B ($12.5B) for the defense of our country,” Shmyhal said.
