Ukraine and Poland are moving toward resolution of the trade dispute.
The parties have made great progress on the issue of market regulation, and negotiation might finish this week, Polish Development Minister Krzysztof Hetman said.
The Economic Committee of the Ukrainian Parliament has previously noted: “The EC proposed to the Government of Ukraine the introduction of protective measures to limit the export of certain agricultural goods to the EU when the specified volumes are exceeded. It is proposed that the period of validity of the restrictions be 12 months – from June 2024 to June 2025. In case of application of these restrictions, the losses of the Ukrainian economy will be from $0.3B to $1B”.
It is noted that Poland tried to put forward a thesis on the need to ban the supply of Ukrainian agricultural products. In return, Ukraine is ready to implement a mirror solution, which will result in losses for the Polish economy since, in some categories of goods, Polish exports are significantly higher than Ukrainian exports.
