Ukraine and Poland agree on steps to open the border and to simplify the common border crossing with Moldova.
During a meeting in Kyiv on December 22, representatives from Poland’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Ukrainian officials agreed on an action plan to unblock the border.
In Warsaw, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kubrakov, and the new Minister of Infrastructure of Poland, Dariusz Klimczak, did not discuss changes to the current agreement on the liberalization of freight transportation. The next step is negotiations at the level of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland and the Polish protesters, added the Ukrainian Ministry.
Poland has already unlocked one of the four checkpoints. Polish farmers stopped the protest in Medyca, but if an agreement is not reached, they can resume their blockade after the New Year holiday.
Meanwhile, Ukraine and Moldova have concluded protocols for the organization of joint control. However, the operation of checkpoints on the Transnistrian border will resume when security conditions allow, according to a separate decision from the Ukrainian government.
