Ukraine and Moldova have tripled their freight volume by rail.
Last year, the volume of exports from Ukraine to Moldova by rail increased 1.5 times to 1.247 million tons, and imports tripled to 492,000 tons, Ukrainian Railways reported. As the state company specified, during the year Ukraine exported 397,000 tons of grain and imported 363,600 tons of oil products through the border crossings with Moldova by railway. In addition, at the beginning of November 2022, after a 24-year break, the movement of Ukrainian passenger trains on the Kyiv – Chisinau international connection was resumed. Over 10,000 passengers have already used it in the last 3.5 months. Moreover, both countries agreed to increase the volume of cargo transportation and the involvement of Ukrainian specialists in the repair and restoration of Moldova’s railway infrastructure.
