Ukraine and Lithuania are discussing the restoration of rail and air connections.
The countries intend to restore passenger transportation by railway along the Kyiv-Warsaw-Vilnius route, transfer veterinary and phytosanitary inspections of transit cargo from Ukrainian-Polish border crossings to the port of Klaipėda, and start flights of Ukrainian airlines from Lithuanian airports, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandra Azarkhina said.
According to Lithuanian, the easing of procedural requirements at the Ukrainian-Polish border will make it possible to transport up to 500,000 tons of Ukrainian agricultural products to the Klaipeda port per year. Lithuania plans to install railway trolley exchange terminals, which will also increase cargo flow between the countries.
In addition, the Lithuanian side offered Ukrainian airlines the possibility of starting their operations in Lithuania and participating in national tenders for strategic directions.
