Ukraine and its partners are working on an international compensatory mechanism for reparations.
It should be based on an international agreement, with compensation paid utilizing sanctioned Russian assets, said PM Denys Shmyhal during the United for Justice conference in Lviv. According to him, it is necessary to create an international tribunal and create a mechanism for confiscating Russian assets, which can then be directed toward restoring Ukraine. The head of the government added that reparations will compensate for losses suffered by individuals and legal entities as well as directly to the state of Ukraine. The international compensation mechanism will have four components: the International Register of Losses, the Compensation Commission for Consideration of Claims for Compensation of Losses, the Compensation Fund, and a mechanism for implementing decisions made by the commission. According to the PM, the amount necessary for damage restoration already exceeds $700B.
