Ukraine and Croatia are preparing the International Conference of Humanitarian Demining Donors in Zagreb.

The event in Zagreb on October 11 and 12 will be a platform for mobilizing additional international support and resources for demining initiatives in Ukraine. “Our international partners, the G7 countries, will be able to focus on discussing new approaches in clearing Ukrainian lands of explosive substances,” said Economy Minister Yulia Svyridenko.

Currently, there are 14 private demining operators in Ukraine with 26 special vehicles, but at least 100 machines are needed. The Ministry of Economy hopes to double the available number of machines by the end of the year.

Svyridenko specified that the government is also working on its Mine Action Strategy in Ukraine, prioritizing demining infrastructure facilities, ensuring public safety, and clearing agricultural land.

Another critical issue for discussion at the conference will be reclaiming lands from explosive objects through non-technical surveys.
