Ukraine and Britain: 100-year partnership, $3.7B in annual military support and permission to strike targets in the Russian Federation.
During his visit to Kyiv, the head of the British Foreign Ministry, David Cameron, started negotiations with Ukraine regarding a 100-year partnership. This completely new agreement would deepen relations between the two countries, from trade, security, and defense to science and technology, education, culture, and much more.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Reuters in Kyiv, Cameron promised that Britain would give Ukraine £3B ($3.77B) in annual military aid and that this would happen “as long as it takes”.
In addition, the head of the British Foreign Office stated that Ukraine has the right to use the weapons provided by London to strike targets in Russian territory. It should be noted that this was the first public recognition of Ukraine’s right to use British weapons for strikes deep into Russian territory by a top UK official.
At the same time, Cameron believes that any deployment of NATO troops to Ukraine to fight the Russian army will be a “dangerous escalation”.
