Ukraine agrees with Romania on essential steps to increase export volumes.

Shipping through the Sulina Sea Canal, which is in Romania and one of the corridors connecting Ukrainian seaports on the Danube with the Black Sea, has started operating 24 hours a day, Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov announced.

“We expect our Romanian colleagues to provide the necessary staff to reach four million tons of export capacity per month,” he said.

The minister emphasized that this export route’s efficient and consistent operation remains a strategic priority. In 11 months of 2023, the total transshipment volume through Ukrainian ports on the Danube amounts to almost 30 million tons.

Joint work to increase the capacity of railway and road border checkpoints in a four-way format is also continuing: Romania – US – EC – Ukraine with Moldova’s participation.

In addition, repair work began in November at the Reni checkpoint to create conditions for joint control with Moldova. The project will be finished and launched in the first quarter of 2024.
