According to Senator Lindsey Graham, a turning point regarding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is coming, with a “record arms flow” soon heading to Kyiv. “For months, President Trump has been trying to lure President Putin to the peace table. He’s been keeping the door open, but that door is about to close,” Graham said.

The senator also added that the sanctions bill would give President Trump a “sledgehammer to fight Putin’s economy and all those countries that support the Kremlin’s war machine”.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained that President Trump’s supposed agreement to fund NATO aid to Ukraine is part of an existing scheme. At the ASEAN summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, he noted that this is not a new plan, but rather the purchase of weapons by European countries from the US, which are then transferred to Ukraine. The US is urging NATO allies to transfer weapons from their existing stocks and order new supplies from American companies to accelerate deliveries.
