Trump wants to end the active phase of Russia’s war against Ukraine by Easter; Ukraine and Europe will be at the negotiating table.

The administration of US President Donald Trump has told its European partners that it wants to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine by April 20. This is causing concern among European leaders, who fear that Kyiv may be forced to agree to an unfavorable deal. In response, they are working to increase European defense spending and strengthen their support for Kyiv. The primary goal is to prevent a scenario that could play in Russia’s favor.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump confirmed that President Zelenskyy will be involved in the peace talks. Secretary of State Marco Rubio clarified that Europe will also be at the negotiating table after the first stage of discussions is completed.
However, Russia stated that Moscow “recognizes Kyiv’s participation in peace talks” but will consider Washington to be the main counterpart. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also said that Russia will not cede any territories it has captured in Ukraine but is ready to listen to proposals from the American side at the talks in Riyadh.
