Trump is preparing to meet with Putin, but first – a phone call.

US President-elect Donald Trump said that a meeting with Putin is already being arranged, although the exact date has not yet been determined. The resumption of diplomatic dialogue between the US and Russia after Trump’s inauguration on January 20 could be an essential step in finding a solution to end the war in Ukraine. At the same time, Ukraine fears that a quick cessation of hostilities could lead to unfavorable conditions for the state. Trump, on the other hand, emphasizes that ending the war is necessary because the situation has become “bloody.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Putin welcomed Trump’s initiative and was ready to meet with him without any preconditions, but no official requests for a meeting have been received.

Meanwhile, Switzerland has stated its readiness to organize a meeting between Trump and Putin if there is a corresponding request and the parties are willing to hold talks. US officials say a phone conversation between Trump and Putin is expected to occur soon.
