Trump is preparing a surprise sanctions move against Russia.

US President Donald Trump may announce new sanctions on Russia by July 14. According to The Times, he is seriously considering imposing tough secondary sanctions on countries that trade oil with Russia, including China, India, and Turkey. The plan is to support a bill that would impose a 500% tariff on imported goods from any nation purchasing Russian products under sanctions.
This approach stems from Trump’s dissatisfaction with Putin’s refusal to negotiate and ongoing strikes on civilian targets in Ukraine. He previously called the bill “too tough”, but now says he is “studying it carefully”. Even partial implementation of these measures, according to analysts, could significantly hurt the Russian economy. At the same time, a key factor is whether the United States can withstand the economic fallout of this decision amid prolonged instability.
Meanwhile, Ukraine hopes that the US will impose Russian new sanctions alongside the 18th package of EU sanctions in order to pressure Russia into ceasing hostilities at sea, on land, and in the air.
