Trump expressed his expectations for a “trial” meeting with Putin in Alaska.

According to White House, President Donald Trump believes he will quickly determine whether a deal is possible. “I’ll probably know in the first two minutes whether a deal can be made because that’s what I do. I make deals”, Trump stated.

The US President also said he would not sign a peace agreement directly, as it would need to be signed by Russia and Ukraine. However, he noted that he would attempt to return “some important territories” to Ukraine and adjust the front lines.

Regarding the Ukrainian president’s participation in negotiations with Putin, which are still scheduled to take place in Alaska rather than Moscow, Trump mentioned that Zelenskyy’s involvement “was not part of” the agreements with Russia. The US president added that the negotiations would be preliminary, followed by meetings in bilateral and trilateral formats.

Trump also said he would speak with Zelenskyy before the meeting with Putin and inform him immediately of its outcome.

However, Trump again accused Zelenskyy of waging war and threatened that the US might withdraw from negotiations if no agreement is reached. He expressed concern that Zelenskyy requires constitutional approval to exchange territories. “I can walk away and say, ‘Good luck to you.’ And that will be the end of it”, Trump commented.
