Trump accuses Zelenskyy of planning to abandon the mineral agreement and threatens Ukraine with consequences.

US President Donald Trump stated that President Zelenskyy intends to abandon the extraction agreement and warned that such a decision would lead to “significant problems.”

“He is looking to abandon the agreement on rare earth elements, and if he does, he will face problems – big, big problems,” Trump said.

Notably, last week Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine would not recognize previously provided US military assistance as a loan.

Meanwhile, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and Putin’s special representative, reported that the United States and Russia have begun discussions on joint rare earth metal extraction projects. He claims that several American companies have already “expressed interest” in these projects.

Russian President’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, clarified that Washington and Moscow have not yet signed any documents regarding joint projects in the rare earth metals sector, but confirmed that there is indeed interest from American companies.
