The White House needs Congress’ approval to continue aid to Ukraine and continue working on confiscating Russian assets.
The White House no longer has funds for new military aid packages to Ukraine until the US Congress approves it, the representative of the National Security Council of the White House, John Kirby, said.
According to him, President Joe Biden signed the last package of military assistance to Kyiv, “but we need to pass an additional security assistance to Ukraine“, Kirby added.
At the same time, he said that the US continues to discuss with its allies the issue of confiscating $300B in Russian assets.
“We are still discussing with our partners what the reconstruction and restoration of Ukraine should look like after the war. But the main task now is to help them fight against Russian aggression“, he said.
According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, in 2024 a key tasks is to direct the assets of the Russian Federation to the reconstruction of Ukraine.
“The US, the EU, and other countries have come very close to solving this issue“, he added.
