The war has engulfed Israel: what does this mean for Ukraine?

On the morning of October 7, Palestinian Islamic organization Hamas launched an unexpected and large-scale attack on Israel. As a result of attacks by Hamas militants, the number of dead exceeded 600 people, with 2,048 wounded. The Embassy of Ukraine in Israel confirmed that two Ukrainian citizens died in the attacks. The Palestinian side claimed at least 313 dead Palestinians and 1,990 wounded in 24 hours.

The ISW believes that the Kremlin will use the war in Israel against Ukraine. In particular, it is believed that Russia will promote information operations to reduce US and Western support and attention to Ukraine. A similar opinion was expressed by the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda.

“This certainly helps Russia and Russian aggression against Ukraine. It will divert the world’s attention,” Duda said.

Meanwhile, the US Senate has proposed a bill to support Israel with “tools necessary for self-defense”.
