The Ust-Dunaisk port will replace the grain corridor: the port will be able to receive Panamax size ships.
Due to the expansion of the Ust-Dunaisk seaport water area boundaries, raid transshipment will be organized, said the head of Sea Ports of Ukraine, Yuriy Lytvyn.
Note that the port is located on the Danube and cannot receive large container ships due to the river’s shallow depth. Panamax describes a ship whose dimensions allow passage through the locks of the Panama Canal, with a deadweight of more than 50,000 tons. These vessels were serviced in Odesa ports before the grain deal was stopped.
However, at the end of last week, the government temporarily expanded the boundaries of the water area at the Ust-Dunaisk seaport to increase the cargo processing volumes at the seaports in the Danube region during martial law. The new anchorage location near the mouth of the Bystre where raid transshipment of grain cargoes from the Ust-Dunaisk and Izmail to Panamax vessels has been determined.
