The US will push Europe to buy more American weapons for Ukraine while working to revive Lend-Lease.

The Trump administration will encourage its European allies to buy more US-made weapons for Ukraine ahead of possible peace talks with Russia to improve Kyiv’s negotiating position.
US officials, including special envoy Keith Kellogg, will discuss possible arms purchases with European allies this week at the Munich Security Conference. It is one of several ideas being discussed by the Trump administration to potentially continue the supply of American weapons to Ukraine without committing significant funds of its own.
As well, US House of Representatives Republican Joe Wilson will introduce a bill in Congress that would allow the US to supply weapons through the Lend-Lease program. The document would give Trump “flexible authority to send victory weapons to our partners, including Ukraine.” According to the congressman, this will help deter the war criminal Putin and “bring Russia to the negotiating table through American power.”
The Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act was passed in the US in 2022, but the mechanism has not yet been utilized.
