The US will initially supply new weapons to allies who will then transfer it to Ukraine.

The Trump administration plans to redistribute weapon supplies, especially air defense systems, so that countries transferring their stocks to Ukraine will receive them first. The US has already prioritized Germany over Switzerland in transferring new Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, paving the way for Berlin to send two systems to Ukraine. Washington’s promise to quickly replace the German Patriot systems marks the first time the Trump administration has actively promoted weapons supplies to Ukraine.
Additionally, Kyiv plans to sign a drone agreement with the US, which involves American investment in Ukraine’s defense industry. This includes the US purchasing a large number of Ukrainian UAVs. Furthermore, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has proposed to its international partners the exchange of domestically produced drones for Patriot missiles. It is reported that allies have committed to supplying Kyiv with up to 10 Patriot air defense systems.
As well, Australia has already delivered most of the promised 49 M1A1 Abrams tanks, part of a $160M aid package. Since the start of the full-scale war, Australia has provided Ukraine with $980M in military assistance.
