The US State Department has acknowledged that the war in Ukraine has evolved into a “proxy war” between the US and Russia.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio characterized the war in Ukraine as a “proxy war” between the US and Russia.
“President Trump perceives the war in Ukraine as a protracted conflict, a situation with no resolution in sight. And, frankly, this is a proxy war between nuclear powers – the US, supporting Ukraine, and Russia – and it needs to come to an end,” he stated.
According to Rubio, Russia is a large nation that has gained some ground in the war against Ukraine and is reluctant to withdraw. Thus, this represents a “conflict with no resolution.” Therefore, Trump is now attempting to ascertain if there’s a path to peace and to achieve this, it is essential to engage with both the Russians and the Ukrainians.
Meanwhile, Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, reported following a phone call with US President’s National Security Advisor Michael Waltz that the Ukrainian and American delegations will meet “in the near future.”
