The US Senate plans to vote on aid to Ukraine this week.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat, said the Senate will vote this week on a supplemental national security bill that includes a bipartisan deal on border security and aid for Ukraine and Israel. The vote is likely to take place by Wednesday.

At the same time, the White House does not support the bill supporting Israel without aid to Ukraine, as explained when the vote was announced in the House of Representatives by its Republican Speaker, Mike Johnson.

White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre characterized such proposals by Republicans in the House of Representatives as “the latest cynical political maneuver.”

Meanwhile, the US welcomed the agreement between EU leaders to allocate €50B in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine. However, the strategic communications coordinator of the US National Security Council, John Kirby, noted that this will not replace American leadership regarding security assistance. He added that the US presidential administration will continue to urge Congress to pass a supplemental national security request that provides Ukraine with billions of dollars in military aid.
