The US plans to approve an annual aid package for Ukraine worth $50-100B.

As the WSJ writes, lawmakers have proposed supporting Kyiv until next year’s presidential elections. Both Democrats and Republicans believe it would be more appropriate to pass one large package rather than several smaller ones, especially for Republicans who are under increasing pressure from their party’s constituents over continued war spending.

Democrat Tim Kaine believes that there will be enough votes in both houses to pass such a package.

“I want to do this and not return to it again so that the Ukrainians will survive the next year and Russians understand that for them it is for the worse, not for the better,” said Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.

Republican Rep. Michael McCaul said the House has stalled since McCarthy’s removal, but package supporters expect to pass a one-year relief package between Oct. 16 and Nov. 17, when the current temporary spending bill expires.
