The US is preparing a defense package for delivery to Ukraine by the end of the year, Germany is doubling its aid budget, and Finland is ramping up ammunition production.
Washington will provide another package of military aid to Kyiv by the end of December, said John Kirby, US National Security Council representative.
At the same time, Germany confirmed that it will double its military aid to Ukraine in 2024, from €4B to €8B.
In addition, Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkanen has decided to increase local ammunition production capacity to enable long-term support for Ukraine until the 2030s. The agency has committed to investing about €24M to increase production of large-caliber ammunition and obtaining long-term orders from Finnish industry.
Finnish enterprises can apply to the EU for support within the ASAP financial package. The total investment by the Ministry of Defense of Finland and Finnish industry will amount to about €120M. This will increase production capacity by more than twice.
