The US is discussing with Ukraine the long-term goals of the Kursk offensive and believes that the war is reaching a stalemate.

Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder reported on discussions regarding the offensive’s long-term goals. “The Kursk operation certainly demonstrated the creativity and fighting prowess of the Ukrainians, but when it comes to their long-term goals, we are still discussing it with them,” the official clarified. Meanwhile, Pentagon intelligence believes that Russia’s war against Ukraine may reach a stalemate, as the parties do not have sufficient military resources to conduct major offensive operations. Ukraine still does not have enough ammunition to match Russian capabilities. Although the Armed Forces of Ukraine can conduct defensive operations, they cannot launch a large-scale counteroffensive for at least six months. Russia, on the other hand, has adopted a strategy designed to exhaust Ukraine and will be able to maintain a buffer zone around areas captured by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but it does not have enough forces to advance deep into Ukraine, in particular to Kharkiv.
