The US House of Representatives has approved aid to Israel without aid for Ukraine, but Biden might veto the bill.
The US House of Representatives approved a $14.5B military aid package to Israel, separate from aid to Ukraine. Biden said he would veto the bill. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer warned that the “shockingly frivolous” bill has no chance in the Senate.
After The Economist published an interview with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhny, where he stated that the situation at the front had reached an impasse, the White House emphasized the importance of continuing to support Ukraine.
White House national security spokesman John Kirby added that it would be much easier for the administration to do so if Congress approved additional funding for Ukraine.
US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink met with Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson to discuss “the importance of allowing Ukraine to stop Russian aggression in Europe.”
At the same time, the President of the EC, Ursula von der Leyen, said that she discussed the importance of supporting Ukraine with members of the US Congress.
