The US held a Ramstein meeting for the first time without additional money for Ukraine.

On January 23, allies held the 18th Ramstein meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine, conducted online.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin called on global partners to strengthen Ukrainian air defense with new systems. The Pentagon head commented on the work of the “capability coalition,” which includes Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and the UK.

“Our allies and partners have created six coalitions of capabilities to support Ukraine’s Air Force, ground-based air defense, artillery, maritime security, mine clearance, and information technology,” Austin added.

However, as AP writes, for the first time since Austin created the international group in support of Ukraine in April 2022, the US held monthly meetings involving about 50 countries without available funds and without the ability to send the ammunition and missiles that Ukraine needs.

Therefore, the US expects help from its allies in financing Ukraine’s military needs.
