The US has reached an agreement with Ukraine and Russia on a “maritime truce” and is developing a plan to prohibit attacks on energy facilities.

During talks in Riyadh, the US delegation collaborated with representatives from Ukraine and Russia to prevent assaults on commercial vessels in the Black Sea.

“The US and Ukraine have committed to ensuring the safety of shipping, refraining from the use of force, and halting the use of commercial vessels for military purposes in the Black Sea,” the White House stated.

The US had already secured a similar agreement during negotiations with the Russians.

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov emphasized that the movement of Russian military vessels beyond the eastern part of the Black Sea would be considered a violation of the agreement and would constitute a breach of Russia’s obligation to maintain freedom of navigation in the Black Sea, posing a threat to Ukraine’s national security.

“In such a case, Ukraine will fully exercise its right to self-defense,” he remarked.

Additionally, the US delegation reached a separate agreement with Ukraine and Russia to establish measures for a mutual halt to attacks on energy facilities. This initiative would assist Russia in restoring access to global markets for agricultural exports and fertilizers, including by sea.
