The US has reached an agreement to finance the government, and next comes aid to Ukraine.

The FT writes that the US House of Representatives has approved a new bill that President Joe Biden signed to extend the government’s temporary funding until March and avoid a shutdown.

Congressional leaders now hope negotiations on providing support for Ukraine will resume and a compromise will be found. To garner support from Republicans, the military aid package is expected to include measures to limit immigration at the border with Mexico.

Meanwhile, key Biden aides warned members of Congress in a closed-door meeting that significant difficulties are possible without the approval of aid on the front lines. Ukraine will exhaust its air defense and artillery capabilities in the coming weeks. If Congress does not provide money in the coming days, Russia can win the war – in the best case, in a few months, and then Russia’s victory will “resound around the world” simply because the US could not cope with the situation.
