The US has provided Ukraine with a new $800M military aid package including cluster munitions.
According to Pentagon Deputy Chairman Colin Kahl, the ammunition that will be delivered to Ukraine will include only those with a percentage of unexploded shells of less than 2.35%.
According to the Pentagon, the aid package also includes 32 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, 32 Stryker armored personnel carriers, additional ammunition for Patriot and HIMARS air defense systems, AIM-7 air defense missiles, Stinger anti-tank systems, Javelin 5-1 anti-tank weapons, and much more.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, emphasized that Ukraine strictly observes all international humanitarian conventions when using these weapons. The weapons will be used only for the de-occupation of internationally recognized territories of Ukraine and not for strikes on the officially recognized territory of Russia. In addition, cluster munitions will not be used in urban areas.
