The US has finally approved the budget for 2023 and the allocation of $44.9B for Ukraine.
The approved draft budget for $1.7T is financed by the federal government and includes financing of military and economic aid to Ukraine totaling $44.9B. In particular, $19.8B is for armaments and equipment of the Armed Forces and NATO allies. Among the planned programs to support Ukraine is the $9B Security Assistance Initiative, which provides equipment, training, logistics, and supplies to support the Armed Forces. The stockpile of US weapons, which the country provides to Ukraine from its reserves, will be replenished by $11.88B. The US president will also receive new powers to transfer $14.5B worth of arms to Ukraine from the US stockpile. Almost $2.5B is earmarked for Ukraine’s humanitarian needs and $13.37B for economic and budgetary support. In addition, the US Congress voted for an amendment to the budget to transfer the seized assets of Russian oligarchs to the people of Ukraine.
