The US extends its permission for Ukraine to strike targets in Russian territory and Ukraine will receive a Patriot system and more missiles.

The US has said that Ukraine can use its weapons to strike Russian forces that are firing at Ukrainian troops anywhere along the border, not just near the Kharkiv region. However, this does not apply to the use of ATACMS long-range missiles, it only extends to a depth of no more than 100 km inside Russia. Key Russian airbases, from which planes carrying glide bombs take off, are not inside of this zone.

The US President’s national security advisor, Jake Sullivan, also said that Ukraine could use air defense systems to attack Russian aircraft flying over their territory if they are preparing to fire into Ukraine.

Also, the National Security Council representative, John Kirby, confirmed that the Biden administration has decided to send all Patriot interceptor missiles that will be manufactured in the near future to Ukraine. The same is true for NASAMS rockets.

At the same time, with another ally, the Netherlands will soon provide Ukraine with a Patriot installation, while Romania made a similar decision.
