The US does not plan to provide fighter jets or ATACMS supplies.
In Washington, officials can allow other countries to transfer F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, or they may take such a step themselves. Although, as the FT writes, US President Joe Biden has stated that there will be no such deliveries. However, the publication’s sources claim that providing modern air assets by the US to Ukraine is not excluded. At the same time, the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, said that the US will not transfer F-16 aircraft to Ukraine now. Also, the US officials explained that they will not provide ATACMS to Ukraine due to low supplies of long-range missiles in the US stockpile. The US is also concerned that Ukraine will use long-range missiles to strike deep into Russian territory and that this could cross a red line. At the same time, Ukraine seeks to obtain Washington’s permission to purchase ATACMS from allied countries with the funds provided by the US as part of the aid.
