The US Congress expects the approval of Ukrainian aid by Christmas.
Leaders in the US Congress hope to vote by Christmas on an additional package of military assistance to Ukraine and Israel, writes NBC News. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, R-New York, has clarified that passing more aid will be his priority between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
“I know that both sides are genuinely interested in helping Israel and Ukraine, as well as helping the innocent civilian population of Gaza. So, I hope we can agree, even if neither side gets everything they’re asking for”, Schumer said.
Four Senate sources told NBC News that the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas is critical and that there is concern among both Republicans and Democrats that if the process moves into the new year, the chances of getting all four points of the plan, such as aid to Israel, Ukraine, and the Indo-Pacific region, as well as funding for increased border security, will decrease sharply at the finish line.
