State Department press secretary Matthew Miller emphasized that US aid to Ukraine will be embedded in relevant intergovernmental agreements that will remain in force regardless of who the US president will be. Miller added that the US is currently discussing with Ukraine what these security commitments will look like.
“We are having discussions with Congress about what our current position should be regarding financing Ukraine and our long-term position.”
He also emphasized that the US’ foreign policy support depends on the president and Congress. “Whenever we asked Congress to allocate more support for Ukraine, Congress always agreed. And we expect it will continue to be the case,” Miller emphasized.
