The US and NATO have introduced a new mechanism to supply military aid to Ukraine: The Netherlands will contribute €500M, and three other countries $486M.

Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the US and NATO have announced the launch of the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, which aims to expedite the delivery of American-made weapons and equipment to Ukraine. This initiative is based on agreements between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US President Donald Trump, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Through this mechanism, alliance member states and partners can fund the purchase of American weapons and gear via voluntary contributions.
PURL involves Ukraine creating a list of weapons and ammunition based on its critical needs, with new aid packages announced regularly. NATO will oversee the coordination of supplies. The initial aid package, worth €500M, will be financed by the Netherlands, with delivery of the supplies expected soon, including parts and missiles for Patriot air defense systems. The Netherland’s Defense Ministry emphasized Ukraine’s urgent need for more air defense equipment and ammunition.
Denmark, Norway, and Sweden will collectively contribute approximately $486M under PURL, aimed at quickly supplying Ukraine with weapons and equipment, including missiles for Patriot air defense systems, ammunition, and support for previously transferred equipment.
