The US and Germany will strengthen Ukrainian air defense capabilities.
US Ambassador to NATO Julianne Smith noted that the summit will feature fresh news on air defense for Ukraine.
“We will have a financial commitment, according to which both Ukraine and Moscow will understand very clearly that we, the transatlantic partners, will not back down,” Smith emphasized.
She also noted that during the summit, a “bridge to membership” will be prepared for Ukraine, allowing the Alliance to coordinate assistance provided to Ukraine and train Ukrainian forces.
The White House, in turn, published a statement by US President Joe Biden stating that after the Russian strikes on Kyiv and other cities that killed 36 people, he will announce new US and allied measures to strengthen Ukrainian air defense at a meeting with President Zelenskyy.
Meanwhile, Germany updated the list of military aid it has provided to Ukraine, confirming the transfer of a third Patriot system. The package also includes 55,000 155mm artillery shells, ammunition for Gepard and Leopard 1 tanks, and 30 VECTOR reconnaissance drones.
