The US and Britain might allow Ukraine to strike Russia using Storm Shadow missiles without any public announcement.
Washington and London are believed to be working toward permitting Ukraine to use Storm Shadow missiles for strikes on Russian territory, but any such announcement will not be made public to preserve Ukraine’s element of surprise.
According to The Times, the US is holding back on giving its approval until it is familiar with Ukraine’s Victory Plan that President Zelenskyy will present to American leader Joe Biden during a meeting this week.
Also, as noted in the publication, the British side wants to create the impression that the decision came from a larger number of NATO allies. For this purpose, a meeting of the heads of foreign policy from the US, Britain, France, Germany, and Italy was organized in Paris.
Ukraine seeks to use long-range missiles to hit Russian airbases and military facilities that are used for attacks on Ukrainian cities. It was previously reported that Britain sought to act alone in this matter with the US’ approval.
