The US and Britain become energy partners to end Europe’s dependence on Russia.
On December 7, the United States and Great Britain announced the creation of a partnership under which they will work to reduce global reliance on Russian energy exports, stabilize energy markets, and intensify cooperation in the field of energy efficiency, nuclear and renewable energy, according to the British government’s website. The creation of a joint, high-level working group is envisaged. The US is set to export at least 9-10 billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas in 2023 through British terminals. This is twice as much as this year. The group will also work to reduce global dependence on oil and gas from the Russian Federation. To do this, the US and Britain will work to improve energy efficiency, support the transition to renewable energy sources, accelerate the development of hydrogen technologies around the world, and promote civil nuclear energy.
