The UN Security Council will hold an open debate on Ukraine.
The discussion will take place on September 20 with participation from various heads of state and government, who will lead the delegations during the opening of the next session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The Permanent Representative of Albania to the UN, Ferit Hoxha, noted that the purpose of the debate is to analyze not only the situation in connection with the ongoing war in Ukraine but also the prospects – where to go next and what can be done. Hoxha emphasized that Albania has consistently advocated for the establishment of peace, which corresponds to the resolution from the UN General Assembly.
The Security Council meeting will be chaired by the prime minister of Albania. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to attend the annual gathering of world leaders at the United Nations. According to Hoxha, this will be “a real summit regarding Ukraine, which has not happened since the beginning of the war.”
