The Ukrainian Parliament adopts several laws necessary for starting negotiations on joining the EU.
To fulfill the EC’s criteria for the opening of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU, Ukraine’s parliament approved a draft law on increasing the resources of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), strengthening the autonomy and independence of The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), and expanding the powers of The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP).
The NABU legislation provides for an increase in the maximum number of NABU staff from 700 to 1,000 people. According to the SAPO legislation, it will be removed from the structure of the Prosecutor General’s Office and reorganized into a separate body.
The NACP legislation provides the ability to inspect property acquired for public service and to inspect property acquired by declarants prior to appointment to a public service position without prejudice to the rules applicable to national security during martial law.
