The Ukrainian government voiced its expectations from the Vilnius NATO summit.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Olga Stefanyshyna, it is crucial to get assurances concerning the readiness of NATO member states to support Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula. In general, it is expected to fix the position on Ukraine’s membership in NATO and propose a straightforward algorithm for the movement towards accession. At the same time, before membership Ukraine must have security guarantees from the NATO member states, which cannot in any way be an alternative to membership.
“We count on the help of NATO member states until Ukraine fully restores its territorial integrity and sovereignty within the internationally recognized borders of 1991,” Stefanyshyna clarified.
She added that on the sidelines of the NATO Summit, Ukraine expects the approval of the updated Comprehensive Package of NATO Assistance to Ukraine with the aim of Ukraine achieving full interoperability with the Alliance and a comprehensive transition to NATO standards.
