The Ukrainian defense industry attracted $1.5B in 2024, 33% of which was provided through the Danish model.

The ZBROYARI Manufacturing Freedom initiative attracted more than $1.5B to the Ukrainian defense industry in 2024. Most of these funds fell in the last quarter of the year, the Ministry of Strategic Industry and Trade said. Nine countries joined the project: Denmark, Canada, the Netherlands, Lithuania, the UK, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, the US, and the EU. These states financed the initiative through their own contributions and from frozen Russian assets.

Through Denmark’s cooperation, the Danish Model has generated more than $500M  to reimburse the cost of contracts concluded between the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and defense contractors.

In particular, the pilot project financed the production of 18 Bohdana self-propelled guns that are now operating on the front line. Funding for the production of long-range drones, artillery systems, anti-tank missile systems, and missiles was secured by the end of last year. Other partner countries are implementing this approach to support the Ukrainian defense sector.
