The UK has given Ukraine advanced missiles to counter the Shahed, and Germany is preparing to hand over unique RCH-155 guns in 2024.
The UK will hand over to Ukraine the latest Martlet multi-purpose guided missiles that are effective against Shahed kamikaze drones. However, there is still no official information about the transfer of such weapons.
In October 2023, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration said that a multi-level air defense system was built around the capital, in particular, mobile fire groups are equipped with anti-aircraft missile systems of various ranges, including the Martlet.
However, the first public use of the British LMM Martlet MANPAD in Ukraine occurred in April 2022. Using these weapons, Ukrainian forces shot down the Russian Orlan-10 UAV. During the year, the Ukrainian military allegedly shot down enemy drones and even a Ka-52 attack helicopter with these MANPADS.
Meanwhile, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann company director, Axel Scheibel, said that at the end of 2024, for the first time, Germany will hand over new RCH-155 self-propelled artillery installations to Ukraine.
