In front of the Mariupol Drama Theater, which Russia attacked on March 16, “Children” was written in large letters on the asphalt – hundreds of civilians were taking cover there. According to the City Council, hundreds of civilians were seeking safety in the drama theater. As a result of the airstrike with a high-powered bomb, the central part of the theater was destroyed, and the wreckage blocked the entrance to the bomb shelter located in the building. However, in the Mariupol Drama Theater, people survived. The building withstood the bomb and protected the lives of people taking refuge in the bomb shelter, said Ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova. There is currently no information on the dead or wounded under the rubble of the theater.
