The Russian Federation’s monopoly in gas export has rolled back 40 years.
The export of Russian natural gas is decreasing, and the total volume of supplies to foreign markets in 2023 amounted to 69 billion cubic meters.
“If Russia could adapt to Western sanctions with oil exports by increasing supplies to China and India, then with the export of natural gas, everything is not so simple“, said the head of the tax committee, Danylo Hetmantsev.
He added that 2022, with an indicator of 100.9 billion cubic meters, has already become a historical low since 1990. The attempt to freeze Europe in order to obtain concessions has cost Gazprom dearly – the loss of its largest foreign market before the war, which in 2021 provided 80% of exports and 66% of sales.
Supplies to the EU fell to 28 billion cubic meters, a level not seen since the latter half of the 1970s.
