The Poles are protesting Ukrainian carriers, but they have significantly increased their transportation volume to Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Poland’s role as a transport and automotive hub has grown. This contradicts Polish arguments that Ukrainian drivers will displace them from the EU market.

According to analysts, the export of Polish goods to Ukraine increased by 39% in physical terms and by 43% or $1B in terms of cost compared to last year’s figures. At the same time, the transport of Chinese exports by Polish trucks to Ukraine increased by 78%, American by 135%, and Japanese by 177%.

Polish companies’ income, or at least those that are registered there, from exporting vehicles to Ukraine for nine months amounted to $5.7B, which is an increase of $2B and 55% more than in the same period in 2022 and 77% more than in 2021. In the context of domestic production, the export of Polish-made goods accounts for $3.5B out of almost $6B. The remaining $2.2B is Poles’ earnings from the resale of goods produced in other countries to Ukraine.
