The Pentagon Is already working on Ukraine’s aid package; ATACMS could be sent by the end of the week.
The US may supply long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine as soon as key formalities required for the approval of the aid package are completed. CBS News notes that this may happen as early as the end of this week.
ATACMS missiles can be used to suppress the most powerful Russian anti-aircraft systems – the S-300 and S-400. Aircraft, helicopters, missiles, and artillery batteries will also come under ATACMS fire. These weapons have the potential to change the nature of the war.
In addition, the Pentagon is preparing to approve an arms package for Ukraine quickly, including artillery and air defense equipment, while Congress is preparing to make a final decision on funding Ukraine, writes Politico. This will be the second tranche from the US that Kyiv will receive after the US funds ran out in December after the passage of the aid bill stalled in Congress.
Many American weapons are already stored in warehouses throughout Europe and can be sent to Ukraine immediately.
