The newest Ukrainian military innovation, the Palyanytsia, costs less than $1M, and expansion of production is planned.
Ukraine has developed a new long-range weapon that will allow it to strike deep into Russia without asking for permission from allies – its own rocket-drone hybrid, Palyanytsia.
On Independence Day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the Palyanytsia’s existence, calling it a “new class” of weapon. The hybrid’s range is up to 700 km – on par with the American ATACMS. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine noted that the rocket-drone hybrid can reach at least 20 Russian airfields, including the Savasleyka airbase.
Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said in an interview that the next step will be expanding production. “I think this will change the rules of the game, because we will be able to strike where Russia is not expecting it today,” he said. The minister clarified that each missile costs less than $1M, much cheaper than its analogs, and the military is turning to the private sector to further reduce production costs. “The private market generates solutions incredibly quickly,” Fedorov added.
